Quick Bites: Lean Draft House opens on Beltline, Chick-fil-A offers gluten-free buns, Barker’s Red Hots shuts down and more

The Atlanta Beltline’s Westside Trail has its first new business. Lean Draft House (600 Gordon St.) opened in historic West End with a packed house looking for tacos, 20 beers on draft, vintage motorcycles and apparel.

While Staplehouse’s Jen Hidinger was serving hotdogs Monday at the Helpful Hotdog pop-up at Ponce City Market’s Beltline shed, she was surprised by a celebration for her, complete with a marching band. The Atlanta Braves and Fox Sports South awarded Hidinger, founder of the Giving Kitchen, a Community Hero Award. Braves players were on hand to serve up the giant replica check and as well as hotdogs to hungry lunchers.

Chick-fil-A announced Monday the addition of a gluten-free bun. The bun, made from quinoa and amaranth, is available nationwide for an additional $1.15. Because Chick-fil-A kitchens are not certified gluten free, the buns come pre-packaged and customers will need to self-assemble.

Hobnob Neighborhood Tavern is opening a second location in Brookhaven (804 Town Blvd.). Serving “refined tavern fare that highlights classic Southern dishes,” it is expected to open Monday, July 10.

Toco Hills kosher restaurant Broadway Caf̩ (2157 Briarcliff Rd.), which has been in operation for 24 years, recently sold and will reopen under new ownership after renovations.

Sad news for hot dog enthusiasts: Long-time favorite Barker’s Red Hots on Windy Hill Road will be closing June 21. The business, which started as a pushcart in 1984, opened its brick and mortar location in 2007.

Mediterranean restaurant Maya Steaks and Seafood in Sandy Springs closed June 3, and will be replaced by Mandolin, a new concept serving Greek and Turkish fare.

Once again, Fox Bros Bar-B-Q and Taqueria del Sol have teamed up to raise money for Hogs for the Cause, a nonprofit helping families with pediatric cancer. All this week, proceeds from Fox Bros brisket taco with crispy Tabasco onions and chile de arbol mayo go toward the charity. Tacos are available at Fox Bros (Dekalb Ave. and “Que?۝-osk) and all Georgia Taqueria del Sol locations.

West Coast-style Mexican food is coming to Westside. Blue Coast Burrito, based in Tennessee, is opening in Berkeley Park (1700 Northside Dr.). The fast casual menu includes burritos, fish tacos, and salads.

Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta announced a new executive chef. Michael Patria (Ecco, SOHO Steakhouse, Buckhead Diner) to the role of executive chef. In his new role, Patria will oversee the kitchen of the hotel’s breakfast eatery Park 75 and lunch and dinner outlet, Bar Margot. New additions to the menu include grilled Georgia shrimp, pan-seared pork belly and farro fritters.
