GSU professor gets $400,000 to study photosynthesis

How do plants eat the sun’s rays?

GS UlogoWikipediaThe U.S. Department of Energy just shelled out $400,000 to a Georgia State University physicist to study how plants use the sun’s rays to make energy.

With the federal grant, Dr. Gary Hastings aims to “gain a molecular-level understanding of how replacing the pigment that plays a key role in photosynthesis with pigments of varying structures changes the rate at which electrons travel across the cell membrane during solar energy conversion,” according to a GSU press release.
