In wake of Texas shooting, Georgia gubernatorial candidate calls for churchgoers to carry guns

State Sen. Michael Williams: ‘Churchgoers must be vigilant’

20171106(1)Twitter/@williamsforgaShortly after a crazed gunman tore through a Texas congregation with an assault rifle, killing more than two dozen, a conservative candidate for Georgia governor called for churchgoers to lock and load.

In a tweet posted yesterday afternoon, state Sen. Michael Williams, a gubernatorial hopeful, wrote “Church goers must be vigilant next wk & conceal carry sic.”

Williams, known for his outspoken Right-wing ideals, made headlines soon after last month’s Las Vegas concert massacre, when he advertised a bump stock giveaway. A bump stock is a rifle accessory, used by the Vegas gunman, that increases a weapon’s rate of fire. Progressives on social media called his giveaway surely a dismissal of calls to ban the gun mod a slap in the face of shooting victims.
